Survey on 3D channel modeling : From theory to standardization

چکیده
Three dimensional beamforming (3D) (also elevation beamforming) is now gaining a growing interest among researchers in wireless communication. The reason can be attributed to its potential to enable a variety of strategies like sector or user specific elevation beamforming and cell-splitting. Since this technique cannot be directly supported by current LTE releases, the 3GPP is now working on defining the required technical specifications. In particular, a large effort is currently made to get accurate 3D channel models that support the elevation dimension. This step is necessary as it will evaluate the potential of 3D beamforming techniques to benefit from the richness of real channels. This work aims at presenting the ongoing 3GPP study item ”Study on 3D-channel model for Elevation Beamforming and FD-MIMO studies for LTE”, and positioning it with respect to previous standardization works.

Procedural Modeling as an Analytical Tool for 3D Survey in Urban Design Assessment
This paper examines procedural modeling as a tool for 3D modeling creation. Procedural modeling historically has been used for 3D visualization of natural features, but with the release of the software CityEngine in 2008, the technology can easily be adopted also in problem domains dealing with urban environments. Then, we will examine and compare two types of modeling, traditional and proc...

In their 2017 article, Mannion and Exworthy provide a thoughtful and theory-based analysis of two parallel trends in modern healthcare systems and their competing and conflicting logics: standardization and customization. This commentary further discusses the challenge of treatment decision-making in times of evidence-based medicine (EBM), shared decision-making and personalized medicine. From ...
متن کاملThree-dimensional modeling of transport phenomena in a planar anode-supported solid oxide fuel cell
In this article three dimensional modeling of a planar solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) was investigated. The main objective was to attain the optimized cell operation. SOFC operation simulation involves a large number of parameters, complicated equations, (mostly partial differential equations), and a sophisticated simulation technique; hence, a finite element method (FEM) multiphysics approach ...
متن کاملNumerical Study Scour Pattern on Channel Bend Using Flow-3D Software
In nature, a direct route to the river is uncommon. Most rivers have channels that bend wherea complex scour pattern dominates. We have intended to study the behavior patterns necessary to scour a river known as the dominant bends. Numerical models are powerful instruments for the prediction of such areas and can provide a good understanding of these areas. In the present study we have used a t...
متن کاملA 3D Discrete Element Analysis of Failure Mechanism of Shallow Foundations in Rocks
In this research work, a 3D numerical modeling technique is proposed based on the 3D particle flow code in order to investigate the failure mechanism of rock foundations. Two series of footings with different geometries and areas are considered in this work. The failure mechanism obtained is similar to that of the Terzaghi’s but there is a negligible difference in between. Lastly, one equation ...
